This training course provides a general introduction to welding, including an introduction to metallurgy, general information concerning welding, an overview of the electric arc processes commonly used in shipbuilding and details of welding inspection.

Objectives

On completion of the training, students will be able to:

Understand the nature and know the mechanical properties of metals; Understand the production process of steel and aluminium and the application of casting and forging processes.

Understand fundaments of fusion welding; Know how to determine heat input and preheat temperature; Understand the influence of the thermal cycle on weld microstructure and distortion; Know the general types of welding joints and the different welding positions

Know how to differ and recognize the arc welding processes used in shipbuilding; Understand the applicability and limitations of the different welding processes; Get familiar with common types of arc welding equipment and power sources

Know and apply the required activities in welding inspection; Determine and arrange the scope of inspection plan for different tasks; Know the different types of weld imperfections; Understand how to perform visual inspection of welding

Presentation

This training course provides a general introduction to ship machinery, details of diesel engines, a description of piping systems in ship's engine rooms and an overview of marine auxiliary machinery such as pumps, compressors, purifiers, heat exchangers, etc.

Objectives

On completion of the training, students will be able to:

Know the different types and arrangements of ship machinery applied for ship propulsion, understand the main parameters of ship machinery and the basic propulsion power transmission principles, and know the conceptual requirements for reliable and safe work of ship propulsion.

Know the main parts of marine diesel engines and understand their functions, get familiar with the most common problems involving engine parts, and understand the basic requirements for the reliable and safe operation of diesel engines.

Know the different types of piping systems in the ships engine room, understand the purpose and the basic arrangement of systems.

Know the different types of auxiliary machinery found on board ships, understand their working principles and the basic requirements for reliable and safe work of auxiliary machinery.

The Certificate of NDT – Penetrant Testing is obtained after completion of the course and passing the online test.

The course "Hose assembly – safe appliances" provides a basic introduction to the safe use of hoses and selection of fittings for different applications. Furthermore, the course focuses on the identification of fittings, as well as basic practical training in hose assembly.

After the course, participants will be able to use the hose assembly equipment in a way that maintains a safe and appropriate work process. The course is divided into a theoretical and a practical part and is concluded with a written certification test. The course is conducted according to the standard TR 1803 and Oil and Gas United Kingdom Standard.

Focus on production and processing. Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to give an account of the production process of oil and gas. They should be able to identify platform equipment, state the position, and, in principle, give an account of the workings of the production and process equipment involved.

Kurset dokumenterer at skipsoffiserer (dekk og maskin) har gjennomført godkjent oppdateringskurs (IMO80) minst hvert femte år.

Deltakerne skal etter endt kurs kunne

EXAM OBJECTIVES

This exam tests the skills and competence of a DPO against the requirements given in the competence standard DNV-GL Notation AJ/FT-AT.

The exam is a thorough test, covering the most important competences for a DPO, in compliance with relevant DNVGL competence standards. The test measures how well operation of equipment, duties and tasks are performed, all in compliance with relevant international, national and local regulations and requirements.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The Offshore loading courses are designed to meet  Equinor, OGUK and company specific requirements for training of shuttle tanker personnel. The objective is to achieve optimal skills and understanding on how to handle a shuttle tanker in DP mode. The participants will use previously acquired knowledge on manual handling and basic DP together with updated advanced DP knowledge during training on Shuttle tanker operational procedures.

The course focuses on handling Shuttle Tankers in close proximity to Floating Production Storage and Off take units (FPSO’s/FSU’s), Offshore Loading systems (OLS), Single Anchor Loading (SAL) and Direct Shuttle Loading (DSL) from various FPSO’s.

All approaches to the loading buoys are carried out by using Dynamic Positioning Systems, according to procedures. Simulations also include reconstruction of known DP incidents involving shuttle tankers. The complexity of these exercises will be based on the experience of the person “in charge” on the bridge.
