Workplace ethics refers to a set of moral and legal guidelines that all employees of an organization should abide by. These guidelines typically define the ways in which the employees interact with each other and the customers alike. In essence, workplace ethics guide how companies serve their clients and treat their employees. Set guidelines don’t have any meaning if the employees aren’t aware of them, and this is where the aspect of ethical awareness comes in. Ethical awareness is the ability and eagerness to critically analyze, evaluate, and change if required, one’s morals and ethics. All employees in an organization must be conscious of the ethical implications that their actions may have.
