Historically, in the United States, affirmative action came into play to protect the rights of minority groups. Today, affirmative action policies are not compulsory in every workplace, however, companies whose work is contracted by federal governments in the United States are required to have affirmative action policies in place. There are many conflicting views on affirmative action however, diversity, inclusion and equality play a similar role in creating balanced workplaces. Diversity is extremely important in today’s world, ensuring that needs of all ethnic and minority groups are represented and met.
