No experience is necessary to complete this course.

This course aims to give learners an awareness of free-fall lifeboat operations, including how the equipment is operated correctly and safely and maintained.

​The course aims to ensure that learners are following best practice as detailed in national/international legislation and company procedures.

What standards are referred to in this course?

• International Safety Management (ISM) Code – safety and pollution prevention, emergency procedures including use of the Rescue Boat

• The International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS)

• The International Life-Saving Appliance (LSA) Code

• International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW)

• Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organisation (OPITO)
