Who is the course for?

Officers who are looking for an easy-to-follow supplement or refresher to their radar and ARPA courses and any other crewmember that requires an understanding of the general features of radar.

Is previous experience required?

No previous experience is required to complete this course.

How will the course benefit me?

By providing you with guidance at all crucial steps, from taking over the bridge and setting up the radar to watchkeeping, navigation and even SAR use to enable you to efficiently integrate radar into the bridge watch.

How will the course benefit my company?

By enabling navigators to see radar in the context of the other bridge equipment and traditional watchkeeping procedures to ensure an efficient and safe navigational watch.

What standards are referenced in the course?

• IMO Radar Performance Standards IMO(2004): Res.MSC.192(79)

• The International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS)

• IMO SART Performance Standards IMO(1995): Res.A.802(19)

Is there an assessment? 

Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 70%.
